Entrepreneurs pitching their startups plus a “Quick Tip” on tax credits
TCNewTech’s Pitch Selection Committee has identified four startups to compete on Tuesday, November 2, at the City Opera House in downtown Traverse City. Each of the presenters will be allowed five minutes to share their ideas followed by five minutes of Q&A from the audience. When all have been presented, the audience will vote for their favorite to win the $500 cash prize presented by DGN Advisory. Doors to the City Opera House will open at 5:30 with a Cash Bar, pitches begin at 6pm. The audience is encouraged to register in advance for this free event on EventBrite.
Prior to the regular event, 20Fathoms and TCNewTech will jointly host a presentation for entrepreneurs by Jason Piml and Melanie deVries from the Michigan SBDC Tech Team. This free event is also at The City Opera House and titled, “The Truth Behind 10 Common Startup Myths“. Even if a startup is just at the idea stage, there are many opportunities to launch and Jason and Melanie will share their expertise.
For those that arrive for the early program at 4pm, Jimmy Johns of Traverse City will be providing free sandwiches.
Three of the four presenters are returning to the TCNewTech stage with updates and all new “asks” needed to scale their startups. Here is a rundown of the pitch presenters for Tuesday, November 2:
1. Keelin H Lundwall originally pitched his travel app software, Xperiences, virtually to the TCNewTech audience in April of 2021. After making some updates he is back to pitch his Traverse City-based startup and is seeking his first round of investments.
2. Traverse City brothers Garret and Dakota Porter first pitched at TCNewTech in 2017. Their patented aftermarket LED lighting system, ActionGlow has been lighting up the sporting equipment market and they are ready to expand. Their product was recently used as part of a night surf session on the ABC television series, “Ultimate Surfer”.
3. Susan Morozowich was the winner of the very first virtual-only TCNewTech event in April of 2020 when she presented her company, Telebehavioral Health.US. They provide routine outpatient online mental health and substance abuse services to individuals in states across the US. Morozowich is returning in search of the right investor match to help them scale on a national level.
4. First-timers, JC and Steve Bailey of Bailey’s Farms, LLC are graduates of Arrowhead Incubator. The Bailey’s will be sharing and sampling their Kombucha and seeking investors or loans to expand their sales and production throughout the state of Michigan. Arrowhead Incubator is a Native Non-Profit developed and created by a small group of innovative tribal entrepreneurs and business experts to serve as a Native American-focused economic and business incubator.
Once the presentations have concluded, the audience will be encouraged to vote via text for the company they feel gave the best presentation! The event will start at 5:30 pm, with networking and a cash bar before and after the presentations. Pitches commence at 6:00 pm, with voting occurring at its conclusion at 7:00 pm.
In addition to the four pitches, a representative from Rehmann will give a Quick Tip Minute titled, “Ways to Save MILLIONS of Dollars With The ERC Credit”.
