Finalists For TCNewTech August Hybrid Event

TCNewTech is pleased to announce the second hybrid in-Person and online pitch event happening on Tuesday, August 3rd! The format follows a 5-minute pitch presentation from 3 different companies in various stages of development, each competing for the $500 prize presented by 4Front Credit Union. Doors to the City Opera House will open at 5:30 pm with a Cash Bar upstairs next to the auditorium, and the event will begin at 6pm. If you have yet to sign up – find it on TCNewTech’s website! Join TCNewTech for this free event either in person or online!

Here are the presenters pitching for the $500 prize, sponsored by 4Front Credit Union:

Adam Rochford brings Depozit (formerly CoinDrop), a Paypal-like software that allows users to recycle their change back to merchants for account credit. Their company’s software uses machine learning on spending and facial recognition to reduce the chances of fraud by allowing users to safely authorize everyday purchases without needing a phone or wallet on their person. CoinDrop is based in Traverse City and seeking funding.

Megan Mertaugh-Graber pitches Care-O-Van, a mobile mental health service offering therapeutic support through the integration of nature, play, arts, culinary, music, and movement-based therapies. Partnering with schools, private farms, and public parks, Care-O-Van seeks partnerships to support, promote, and refer families towards Megan’s vision of on-site and school/farm-linked mental health services that make the outdoors of Northern Michigan accessible for positive growth within communities.

Kevin Hagedorn is pitching Life Magnetics, Inc., an mRNA packaging company that is solving the question of how to do at-home COVID-19 while keeping the mRNA vaccines under -80⁰ for transportation through a quantum phenomenon in semiconductor grade graphene. Based in Mt. Pleasant, Life Magnetics is seeking seed funding and their first round of investments.

TCNewTech is a nonprofit organization intended to energize a community of entrepreneurs by showcasing new tech ideas and facilitating connections at their monthly pitch contests with a goal to expedite the launch of startups in Northern Michigan. TCNewTech brings to you a hybrid–In-Person and Live-Streamed–new idea pitch and networking event on the first Tuesday of every month. Be sure to sign up online or tune in during the event from wherever you may be on the TCNewTech Youtube or Facebook pages. The event is similar to Shark Tank, where the presenters have five minutes to pitch to the judges. In this case, the audience is the judge. After the event, vote in by text message to determine who takes home the $500 prize presented by 4Front Credit Union.

Anyone with an entrepreneurial idea is encouraged to submit to TCNewTech. No idea is too big or small – TCNewtech wants to hear it all!

TCNewTech sponsors include Michigan Broadband Services, Susan Soffredine Rauser with State Farm Insurance, SCORE, Northern Michigan Angels, and AccessPoint.
