Four Local Companies Takeover TCNewTech Stage

Four Northern Michigan innovators will pitch their ideas at City Opera House

TCNewTech springs forward with an exciting lineup of presenters at its April 5th Pitch & Networking event. Four innovators will share their startups and ideas to an in-person audience at the City Opera House. Seating is limited so be sure to register for this free event on Eventbrite. All are encouraged to attend or watch online via Facebook, YouTube, or LinkedIn. Each presenter will be allowed 5-minutes to present and 5-minutes to answer questions. Following the presentations, the audience will vote via text for their favorite startup to win the $500 cash prize.

The four Northern Michigan innovators are hoping to make crucial connections and win the $500 prize sponsored by Michigan Broadband Services. They all hail from a variety of industries like biomedical tech, environmental, a food-based platform, and a new product in the cell phone space. The TCNewTech audience is made up of technology-minded people, programmers, investors, mentors, people hiring or looking to get hired, and tech geeks that just like learning about new things.

Here is the lineup:

  1. Jim Millar will present Atterx Biotherapeutics, a life science company developing clinical innovations  that prevent and treat antibiotic-­resistant bacterial infections. As a specialty pharmaceutical company, Atterx has received initial funding to develop proprietary therapies for the prevention and treatment of multidrug resistant bacterial infections and are now looking to complete their Series C Preferred offering.
  2. John Levandowski has a finished prototype for his iSanitize Case and is looking to make connections to bring this product to market. The iSanitize Case is a phone case with UVC lights embedded to kill germs and bacteria.  The unique design of the case allows you to sanitize external surfaces as well as the phone and case itself. 
  3. Russell Schindler will be presenting an opportunity with H20 Investigations which specializes in cost effective and efficient water sampling. H20 Investigations samples groundwater, soil vapor intrusion, storm and surface water, landfill, wastewater, and other sources. The company has sampling projects around Michigan and would like to find a partner to operate or acquire this emerging startup. Schindler believes there is huge expansion potential.
  4. Nevada Rector is seeking seed funding to launch Fresh Life Meal Prep which will use local ingredients from their 10 acre farm in Kingsley. Fresh Life meals can be tailored to an individual’s dietary needs, they offer family-sized meals, and they are fresh from the farm with local pickup locations. Their long term goal is to have 60% of the produce farmed on the Kingsley property. Rector plans to add a beer and wine license and hot food service along with other farm attractions. Also offering light catering and an array of cooking activities from fun party cooking classes to private chefs for events.  

Northern Michigan Startup Week, and Michigan’s Creative Coast representatives will share their information. Additionally, 10 Northwest Michigan VEX Robotics teams that are heading to the world championships in May and will share their story.  The collective group of teams hopes to create awareness for their $50,000 campaign to fund the local robotics teams expenses to compete in Texas. During the Open Mic portion of the event, the audience is always encouraged to share their relevant 30-second community announcements.
