TCNewTech Delivers High Energy Event

Telebehaviorial Health.US was the audience favorite at the TCNewTech pitch event for the second time. The healthcare organization which offers a video platform for licensed therapists and their patients, had pitched to the TCNewTech audience during a virtual-only event which was live streamed in April of 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic lockdown. Susan Morozowich and along with her CEO Stephanie Sikma took home the $500 prize provided by DGN Advisory last Tuesday, November 2, 2021.  The event was also live streamed on the TCNewTech Youtube Channel, Facebook page, and LinkedIn.

“It felt like speed dating for entrepreneurs,” said Jess, a member of the Telebehavioral Health.US team when describing the connections she made during the networking portion of the TCNewTech Pitch & Networking event.

Also returning entrepreneurs were Keelin H Lundwall with his travel platform called Xperiences and Traverse City brothers Garret and Dakota Porter who first pitched at TCNewTech in 2017. The Porter brothers gave an energizing update on their patented aftermarket LED lighting system, ActionGlow. Four years after their first TCNewTech pitch the Porter brothers are still lighting up the sporting equipment market and they are preparing to expand their offerings. Their product was recently used as part of a night surf session on the ABC television series, “Ultimate Surfer”.

New to the TCNewTech stage was first time presenters, JC and Steve Bailey of Bailey’s Farms, LLC of Traverse City presented their plans for scaling their Kombucha product and Tim Murphy of Airdrop Gaming based in Zeeland, Michigan rounded out the five presentations. The Bailey’s are graduates of the Arrowhead Incubator program, a Native Non-Profit 501(c)3 which serves as one of a few Native American focused economic and business incubators. It was fitting they were able to pitch on the second day of Native American Heritage month. Murphy presented Audio Radar, a patented technology that visualizes sound events within video games through a series LED lightbars. Audio Radar enables hearing, hard of hearing, and deaf gamers to experience surround sound through surround sight in today’s most popular video game titles including games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, and more.

“It was amazing to see so many people back in person at City Opera House and pitches of such high quality.” ~ Camille Hoisington, Director of Strategic Project, Traverse Connect and TCNewTech Board member.

After the entrepreneurs presented their ideas to the hybrid audience, they answered questions about their companies and awaited the contest’s results, cast by people online and in-person via SMS text messaging poll. In addition to the startups that pitched, Jeannine Habich from Rehmann of Traverse City gave a Quick Tip called, “Ways to Save With The ERC Credit”.

TCNewTech sponsors include Main Sponsor Michigan Broadband Services, and the following Supporting Sponsors Susan Soffredine Rauser with State Farm Insurance, SCORE, Northern Michigan Angels, Michigan’s Creative Coast, and AccessPoint.
