TCNewTech Pitch Contest December 2020
Claraphone, a real-time accent clarifying software, won the TCNewTech Pitch Contest held during an online-only event that aired on the TCNewTech YouTube Channel and Facebook Page to an international audience. Claraphone preserves your voice while converting your accent, so your speech sounds clear and natural. You can use Claraphone as an app on mobile or desktop and is API compatible with teleconferencing platforms. They beat out four other entrepreneurs to take home the $500 cash prize, which was sponsored by Aurora Consulting.
Aurora is a full-service patent strategy firm specializing in working with early-stage life science, medical device, digital health, and software companies to develop valuable patent portfolios through highly tailored, comprehensive strategies.
In addition to Clarapone, pitches were given by Refermejob an online platform to help less experienced job-hunting professionals, Virtual Office Agent a team of virtual assistants with a broad array of skills, Heugenis a digital health company bringing a non-drug treatment to 46 million desperate Alzheimer’s sufferers globally, and Nate VerBerkmoes of The South of the Straits Show — a virtual reality concert in the real-time platform which integrates with social media profiles. Although all five startups are at various stages of launch, the one thing they all share in common is the need for funding. The event was Live Streamed and can be viewed on YouTube and Facebook.
Each of the competitors had five minutes to pitch their startup to the online-only audience followed by five minutes of questions submitted by the live stream audience. After all five founders had presented, the audience had two minutes to vote via text message and they named Ganna Tymko with Claraphone as the evening’s winner.
TCNewTech brings together innovative ideas with investors during monthly pitch contests typically held at the City Opera House in downtown Traverse City but since April 2020 has been held online via the StreamYard streaming platform due to the pandemic.
