TCNewTech has identified three entrepreneurs to pitch on Tuesday, October 5, at the City Opera House in downtown Traverse City. Each of the entrepreneurs will be allowed five minutes to share their ideas followed by five minutes of Q&A from the audience. When all have been presented, the audience will vote for their favorite to win the $500 cash prize presented by 4Front Credit Union. Doors to the City Opera House will open at 5:30 with a Cash Bar, pitches begin at 6pm. The audience is encouraged to register in advance for this free event on EventBrite.
Here is a rundown of the presenters for Tuesday, October 5:
1. Gordon Briley of Briley Fitness will be giving his very first pitch of the latest innovation he is working on, The Axel MPR, a multi-purpose semi-autonomous rover. Although there are many applications for this rover, Briley will be initially focusing on the Sports Gun Target Practice Market. Briley currently has one full patent and two provisional patents on products he created for the fitness industry. He is seeking funding to build a prototype, funding for his first product order, and professional mentorship to help launch his Traverse City business.
2. Chase Bonhag, Co-Founder and CEO of FirstIgnite will be returning along with his team to meet the Traverse City community and share their plans for growth. FirstIgnite matches companies with university experts to solve their toughest scientific problems. Companies enter a description of their problem and are matched to university experts for paid consultations. FirstIgnite, a Traverse City-based startup, has officially completed the Y Combinator startup accelerator and recently raised a seed round. of
3. Co-founder and CEO, Craig Tucker of VERN Health recently participated in the XlerateHealth Demo Day and is now seeking seed funding for his telehealth technology. VERN Health is emotion AI that provides augmented emotional intelligence for healthcare and telehealth. According to Muskegon-based Tucker, “It’s patented, it works in real-time, and it gets better every time it’s used.” . They are seeking $1.5 million for fund development.
Featured Quick Tip Minute
In addition to the three pitch presenters, Matthew Bower, a Partner in Varnum Attorneys at Law will give a Quick Tip Minute titled, “Using Finders to Find Capital”. Raising money for a startup can be hard. Using a “Finder” may be the key for some entrepreneurs. Bower will share some tips on what to avoid when going this route.
Once the presentations have concluded, the audience will be encouraged to vote via text for the company they feel gave the best presentation! The event will start at 5:30 pm, with networking and a cash bar before and after the presentations. Pitches commence at 6:00 pm, with voting occurring at its conclusion at 7:00 pm.
