Front-End Developer Crash Course Part 2 – CSS – POSTPONED

March 18 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

This series enables you to utilize front-end frameworks by developing an understanding of core technologies – HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

There are a ton of courses out there that jump immediately into a specific front-end tool such as React or Angular, providing an overview of the framework and hands-on activities using the tool. Under all those abstracted components, scoped styles, and chaotic state management is just HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This series of sessions will enable you to better utilize any front-end framework by developing a stronger understanding of these three core technologies.

In this three-part series we will review the fundamentals that are typically masked by the complexity of a modern JavaScript framework course. Each of the three pillars (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) will be examined to provide a more in-depth understanding. You’ll apply these new concepts over the three sessions by building a single page resume website including some fun CSS animations using GitHub pages.

We’ll start from the raw HTML code we created in last session by cloning from the tccodes GitHub account. From here, we will begin to add our content and CSS to our HTML skeleton. You’ll be covering CSS layout using flex box, css selectors, css animation and more. By the end of this second session your resume page will look more like an actual website.

Materials to Bring! IMPORTANT

  • Computer with modern browser like Chrome
  • VS Code already installed
  • Personal GitHub account set up and authenticated so you can git push
  • Completed content outline handed out in last session (you will have a hard time without this)
