20Fathoms is proud to present two essential sessions on business law for startups and early-stage companies, led by a trio of experts from Michigan’s prestigious Varnum LLP.
Session 1, 10 AM: Legal Essentials for Startup and Early-Stage Companies
This presentation will cover best practices for protecting your business venture, including entity formation, capital fundraising, corporate governance, intellectual property protection, and agreements with founders, employees, contractors, and service providers.
Session 2, 11 AM: Intellectual Property Protection and Commercialization
This presentation focuses on the basic principles of intellectual property and best practices for protecting and commercializing these company assets.
Matt is a partner on the Business and Corporate Services Practice Team, and participates on both the Startup and Emerging Companies and Intellectual Property Practice Teams. His practice focuses on corporate formation and organization, venture financings, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, securities law, and intellectual property protection and transactions. He works closely with startups, second stage and private companies on day-to-day issues and all manner of corporate and intellectual property transactions.
Tim is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Team as well as the Business and Corporate Services Practice Team. He has extensive experience in many legal business areas including intellectual property and contract law, corporate and general business law, franchise and marketing law, warranty and disclosure law, and trademark, copyright, and technology licensing as well as litigation.
Zach is a member of the Business and Corporate Services Practice Team, assisting clients in matters of business law. He practices in the areas of corporate governance and structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance. Zach focuses on the industries of startups and emerging companies, health care, forestry products and manufacturing.
