New Developer Cohort
October 7, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - December 18, 2020 @ 7:00 pm EDTFree
Based on requests for deeper-dive, more hands-on experiences, tccodes is launching a set of cohort experiences starting in September. This new developer cohort will engage participants weekly to closely mirror the experiences of seasoned developers within Constellation Software, affording new developers the opportunity to mature their skill-sets while gaining insight into what it means to be a professional developer. The course will have three fundamental goals.
- To gain experience writing quality code through test driven development, code reviews, and coaching.
- To grow comfortable with the cadence of Scrum driven development through stand-ups, sprint planning, and sprint review sessions.
- To integrate fundamental architectural and design concepts within your projects to further your skill-sets and marketability.
Participants will leave the course having written meaningful code to utilize during the interview process. More importantly, developers will understand and be able to speak to quality focused concepts and practices that hiring managers inherently search for. Lastly, cohort members can use these experiences to ease the transition to a professional development role having lived through code reviews, sprint review sessions, and daily stand-ups.
This New Developer Cohort led by Ryan Beaver is provided to get our newDev community ready for their first job by emulating a developer job role. You’ll be one of Ryan’s developers working with him and the team to create the solution of your choice. This course will be intensive with a minimum of 2-3 meetings weekly, accounting for 6-8 hours of effort by participants. Scrum meetings and code reviews will be scheduled based on participant availability and will be flexible from sprint to sprint.
Who should attend:
Participation in this cohort is by invitation. A registration code is required. If you are a new developer candidate and feel ready for this immersive experience, contact email@example.com for an interview.
