Rescheduled – Front-End Developer Crash Course: Part 1 – HTML/CSS (tccodes)

February 18 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm EST

This series of sessions enable you to better utilize any front-end framework by developing a stronger understanding of core technologies.

There are a ton of courses out there that jump immediately into a specific front-end tool such as React or Angular, providing an overview of the framework and hands-on activities using the tool. Under all of those abstracted components, scoped styles, and chaotic state management is just HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This series of sessions will enable you to better utilize any front-end framework by developing a stronger understanding of these three core technologies.

In this three-part series we will review the fundamentals that are typically masked by the complexity of a modern JavaScript framework course. Each of the three pillars (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) will be examined to provide a more in-depth understanding. You’ll apply these new concepts over the three sessions by building a single page resume website including some fun CSS animations using GitHub pages.

In this first session, you will learn to create clean, valid, SEO friendly, and accessible HTML. The session will also introduce basic CSS selectors enabling you to add some style to your page.

This event is hosted by 20Fathoms as part of the tccodes talent development initiative. It is intended for intermediate to advanced software developers. For questions contact keith@20fathoms.org or visit tccodes.org.
